Wow! Its January the 13th and can you believe it, apart from the odd flurry, this morning we woke up the the first snow of the Winter. There's almost always snow at the tops of the Bens, but this is the first low level. Scotland has a fantastic Ski industry with 4 major Ski resorts in the country, Glenshee,Cairngorm,Glencoe and Aonoch Mhor near Ben Nevis.
Some years the Sking is better that others but last year people managed to Ski right up until May in one of the resorts.
You can hire ski equipment at each of the destinations so if you find yourself in Scotland when its snowing..go for it!
Scotlands latitude is as high as Alaska, half way up Hudson bay in Canada, Edinburgh is on the same latitude as Moscow...but sometimes we have Winters when there is no snow at all...crazy! Well, not really, the Gulf stram hits Scotland on the west coast which warms the air and when met with cold air from the Artic of Scandinavia, all hell breaks loose on the weather front!

Scottish weather is notoriously difficult to predict at any time of the year.
People often ask me what clothes they should bring on tour? My answer...Rainjacket, Balaclava, Scarf and gloves, but also sunhat, swimming costume and dont forget the Suntan lotion...don't laugh...it's true!
On the West coast there are exotic plants thriving, one of my favourite places in the world is a village called Plockton where palm trees line the waterfront. I often use Plockton as a base when visiting the Isle of Skye as it's a fishing village, so quiet, so beautiful. The TV series Hamish MacBeth and the movie 'The Wicker Man' (1973) were filmed there.
If you allow me to organise your Personal Tour of Scotland, time permitting, I would love to show you Plockton!
Scotland, a place for all seasons!
Take Care and hope to see you soon,
Brian
